You're listening to fly by night. A podcast by Fedex Pilots for Fedex Pilots. Brought to you by the Fedex Master Executive Council of the Airline Pilots Association. And now here's your host Nec Communications chair, Captain Chris lee. Back with me today is Interim P Chair, Captain Andrew Harmon. Thanks for coming back, Andrew. Thanks for having me, Chris. On your last podcast, we talked about P to, and just recently, Me Chair Captain Jose N put out his 1000 day message. In that message, he energized your team. Can you talk about P role in this process? Yeah. The Me is calling on our team, the P volunteers to rally the crew force around a new message. 1 alpha, I'm all in. The message is a call for solidarity and our crew force to recognize a search we currently face and generate support for our Me in a transformation to pace the corporation and our negotiating committee as they approach the next phase of negotiations. And as we talked about in your last podcast, the face to face component and P involvement in this campaign is critical. Yeah. The face to face element is what's gonna provide the trust and the feedback that P committee is required to provide. That's our essential function. Is to get the pilot's feedback to the Me directly. Well, let's talk a little bit about what we're all in on. 3 things. First, we're all in on Alpha as our labor union. Next, we're all in on our Me transforming to pace the corporations changes. Lastly, we're all in on the contract reflects the current environment. Talk about Alpha as our labor union. We're trying to get everybody on board for a single unified goal moving forward. Our union is the internal body of professionals, not just an entity funded to represent us. And frankly, our strength is in our collective unity. Apple provides the framework and the resources to advocate for our profession. And talk about how the Me trans forming to pace the corporation. Absolutely As Jose said in his joint counsel comments, the company is a amid strategic change and our Me must transform alongside the company to remain relevant. The Me officers, support staff, are committed to pace the change, represent us with resolve and advocate for our best interest in this transformation. And finally, what does it mean when we say we're all in on a contract that reflects the current environment. Yeah. So the landscape at Fedex and the cross the commercial aviation industry has changed since we began contract negotiations in 20 21. We've all seen this. The company needs to be transparent to achieve an equitable outcome, and we trust the negotiating committee has our collective best interests at heart as they reap approach these negotiations. It sounds like P role is critical in this process. P is instrumental in this process. Our P volunteers are engaged to highlight the issues that we face daily and report that back to the Me so they have a live pulse on the pilot group. There are a lot of tough conversations ongoing in our crew force every day in the crew rooms and the cockpit. P aims to help make sense of the chaos, particular when when emotions are high. Our team wants to remove the con and help us all start having open honest truthful conversations. About our future here at Fedex. And this is more than just conversations. Yes. A new symbolic land is available to everyone willing to acknowledge our circumstances and engage P in these conversations. It's an open acknowledgment that our membership recognizes as the landscape that we face. The challenges they're in and the commitment to remain informed as we move forward together. So this is not just another lanyard. It's more about what a lanyard symbolizes. Thanks for that, Chris. That's exactly it. This is an enduring message that goes well beyond the current negotiating cycle. The environment is getting tougher and tougher for our industry. Whether combating corporate agendas, navigating complex legislative agendas. We need to stand with our union and solidarity to achieve our expected outcomes. Remind the pilots how to find P so they can get their lanyard. First, our P team will be available in all the major hubs, Memphis, Andy Oakland Anchorage. We will make ourselves available at the training center and Ao otc here in Memphis. We were gonna tag team along with family awareness and make ourselves available to the pilot group for that face to face conversation. We want you to have the ability to reach out to the Me. And vice versa, we have some points from the Me that they would like for you guys to be aware of. And what if a pilot can't find a P team member? Yeah. Send us to dart. We'll set up a time of place to have that conversation with you. Or 1 of my P volunteer reps will reach out via phone call. We will get you the answers that you're looking for. In the dark system, we have set up as Lanyard. Please click on that. Follow that link, follow a dart with us, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. And just to be clear, we're not mailing these out like we have in the past. Not yet. We wanna make this a personal effort. I don't want it transactional at all. There may be an opportunity to mail lanyard in specific situations. But we'll address those on a case by case basis based on your darts. Thanks for coming back, Andrew. Thanks for having, Chris. And thanks for listening. If you have any questions, please go to our website, FDX dot alpha dot org and you utilize the dart link. And as always, be safe out there and we'll see you next time.
